More Jamie! This was a real page-turner and I loved it! Can't wait to read more of Jamie's adventures! If you haven't read any of Mark Love's Motown Mysteries, now's the time! They are great! ~DJB
A Perfect Mix Of Mystery, Action, And Romance! Another winner from author Mark Love. This fifth entry in the Jamie Richmond series finds Jamie doing a favor for an old flame, which leads the indomitable, irrepressibly-curious redhead into a labyrinth of secrets, lies, and crimes. Under Love's superb craftsmanship, Jamie emerges as a sharply defined and attractive character who moves through a rich, fully-developed world peopled by friends, family, business associates, artists, police, characters from Love's more hard-edged Jefferson Chene series--and most especially her special love interest Malone. Seamlessly moving back and forth between mystery, action, and romance, Love makes this a page-turner not to be missed. Highly recommended! ~Donald Levin, PhD, Author of The Martin Preuss Mysteries
Who knew doing a favor for a friend could lead to peril? Jamie is back for another mystery, and this time she’s chasing favors while landing in the crosshairs of some very bad men. Mark Love has penned an incredible mystery where benign favors lead to danger. There are many twists and even a rabbit hole or two in this mystery. The characters are appealing with plenty of intrigue. The mystery itself is well-written.
Let’s start with the characters. I love Jamie and her knack for investigating. Her personality shines in this book. The other characters are mysterious, sure, but also very realistic. Even the bad guys are written with realism. They are gritty, not cartoonish, which adds depth to this book.
The descriptive narration and world-building work together to lure the reader into the story. Every scene is written with clear, concise words so the reader knows everything Jamie sees and experiences. The narration is chockful of tension the further I read. Mark Love puts in technical language related to the mystery, so it feels like a real-life experience while reading. ~N.N. Light

But Seriously: Who Doesn't Love A Spunky Redhead? If you love a mystery with a spunky protagonist who doesn’t take no for an answer, Chasing Favors delivers. While part of a greater series, this story both stands alone and entices you to learn more about the characters from their earlier novels. The tale has a homey feel—perhaps especially for Michiganders, as it’s set in Detroit—but without the more cloying tropes sometimes associated with “cozy” mysteries. Instead, the intermittent romantic forays spice up the story without being graphic or gratuitous. A fun, easy read, Chasing Favors is a great introduction to Jamie and her fellow characters that will leave you wanting more. ~Heather Ashle, author of The Realm Riders Series
Complex And Deep Relationships Mark Love’s Jamie Richmond series departs from his police procedurals (the Jefferson Chene series) to focus on Jamie’s life and her adventures as an amateur sleuth. Love builds complex and deep relationships among his characters. In his first Richmond novel (Devious) he brought secondary characters from the Chene books—Malone and Jamie—onto the stage and chronicles their exploits as well as their growing love and expanding family ties. In Chasing Favors, Love captures the psychology of the artist beautifully while at the same time uncovering the sometimes seamy underbelly of the art world. Chasing Favors may have less high-wire action than Chene’s, but they are more thought-provoking and heartwarming. ~Petunia
